We Are Still On The Merry-Go-Round

It has been busy since the last post!

Lily was registered for Kindergarten.

Cavin had a birthday.

A visit from our other grandson!

I love to do family history.  Just don't have time to do all I want.  I'll be back soon (Hopefully!).

(The above picture was made in Liberty, TX area in the 1930's.  It is of my grandmother holding my mother and her sister.)

Snow Days

We had quite a snow for our area.  It has been around since last Friday.  It usually melts in a couple of days, but this time the cold has not let the sun do its work.  The grandchildren had to go out.  It took us longer to dress them to go out than the time they spent outside!

To help protect their little faces, I rubbed them with chap stick.  Gave them a hot bath and we all played for the rest of the day.  Snow days!  Fun times!

March Into April!

We registered one grandchild for kindergarten this fall.  He was so excited!  As we were leaving the school, he called back over his shoulder "Call me!" to the person who had given him a tour of the school.

Sister is so sad she isn't 5 yet.  She so wanted brother to be 4 again on his birthday.

One more year of preschool, then she will get to go to school like brother.

March was brother's birthday month.  He loves ladybugs.  I found these candy ladybugs at Hobby Lobby made by Wilton.

Saw this idea on Pinterest and made fruit cups for his preschool class for snack time on his birthday.  Their teacher loved it.

I'll end with a picture of some biscuits I made from a recipe I tried from Note Songs blog, by Shelia.  I don't have the link, ( not sure how to do it at the moment)but if you stop by there you can search for it.  They were good and easy!

Oh, February!

January has just flown by!  I spent most of the month with sick ones.  Not fun, but they got extra snuggles and special treats.  February started with a Big Birthday at our house.

My writing has a lot to be desired.  The grandchildren loved the flames coming out of the rocket.  They did help him put out the fire.

We have had a little snow and some really cold (-1) weather.  That means play time inside and no preschool one day.

The princess, her wand, and her favorite hat.  Cavin likes to "tell" her how to build things.  You can tell that doesn't go over very well.

Looking forward to nicer weather!

A Very Merry Christmas To You!

I hope your Christmas is wonderful!  Full of the joy of remembering the birth of our Savior, who is the reason for this special season.  May we all spread His love around and share it with this world that is in such desperate need of it.

Santa is not our main focus on Christmas.  We do talk about him since our grandchildren have started noticing the attention he gets from others.  Recently, they had their picture taken with him.

If I don't make it back to post in time, Happy New Year too!

My New Design Style Inspiration?

Over a year ago, my home decor changed from an eclectic mix of antique and country style furnishings to a much younger and minimal type style.  My husband and I were empty nesters.  Just the two of us and our dogs, Maggie and Phoebe.  Life changes sometimes.  Our pug, Phoebe had to be put down.  Sad, but necessary. Then, two of our grandchildren moved in with us and we became their guardians.  It is a long story of why and how.  Their mom visits them often (most of the time).  We want them to know they are very loved!  They make us laugh almost every day for some reason or another!

We do have a lot of fun, but it is really hard to parent and be a grandparent at the same time.  I do miss the part where you spoil them and send them home!

We are learning some really interesting things!

The hugs, kisses, and snuggles are wonderful!  The temper tantrums, sick days, and going through potty training are not as wonderful, but the other perks make up for it.

Someday, we will get back to getting some home decor projects started again.  Right now, we are learning our ABC's, reading Dr. Suess, coloring, and singing," Jesus Loves Me"!  We are so blessed that He does!
